Beyonce has a new campaign with H&M’s swimwear line, and she touches upon different elements of earth, wind, fire and water. Just in time for her Mrs. Carter World Tour, too. Nice Beyonce…always one step ahead of the game!

I’ve decided to start displaying all of my web development work and projects here from now on! The latest website I’ve finished is for the delicious Eat-A-Pita Philly on 12th and Sansom. Check out their new layout and look, and most importantly – go eat one of their pitas!

For those of you not reading this article on Google Chrome right now, please pause your normal routine and download this browser ASAP! Known for its high speed performance, extremely intuitive and efficient browsing and its easy-to-use approach, Google Chrome is a win when it comes to your internet experience. However, to increase your time searching and working on the world wide web, there are a ton of options to ‘pimp-out’ your Chrome via their very-handy Web Store. Read below for three of my favorite extensions to add to your Chrome Browser and why!

It’s no surprise that using Google Docs and Google Drive to organize your work and collaborate with others has become a huge trend in the past few years. One of my favorite extensions to add to my Chrome toolbar is “G New Doc.” It creates a large “G” button on the top right corner of your toolbar, and upon clicking you have the ability to create any new Google document that you may need! This is awesome because it saves you the time from going into your Gmail or Google Drive each time you need to access a document or create a new spreadsheet.

So I’m sitting here on a Tuesday night pondering about all of the work I have to do tonight. I’ve never been one to pull all-nighters for homework during high school or college, but I find myself doing it on more than one occasion these days. Quitting my 9-5 job and going freelance has been a blessing and nightmare. From financial stress, starting an amazing new relationship, the constant hustle of working, networking and branding myself, and all of the new opportunities and people I’ve been able to meet…the past few months have been pretty surreal. My parents keep bugging me about how long I think “I’ll keep doing this thing?” My response each time is that this freelance life is my passion and I wouldn’t trade it for anything…okay maybe for a few million dollars, an island in the Caribbean, and the body of Beyonce. But alas, a girl can dream the dream, but I’m all about maintaining the reality with an equal amount of fierceness as Sasha Fierce.
So this is my question to you: What’s your motivation? What keeps you chugging along and doing all of the creative things you may do? If you’re a freelancer or entrepreneur, where did that drive come from to keep reaching for your goals, and what inspires you to go beyond what your parents may have expected from you to do in order to live your dream?
For me, it’s the passion of doing what I love that keeps me going. I geek out over learning new Photoshop skills, I love learning about web design and development, and I truly enjoy making a digital impact with small businesses and bloggers through my work. Yes, there are nights where the thought of sleep is like an evil temptress wooing me with the promise of dreams and an escape from deadlines and reality. But there are also similar nights where I’m working nonstop and actually feel exhilarated; everything else is an afterthought because I know that the hard work I put in now will only benefit me and my career for the future.
Anyway, enough of what motivates me – tell me in the comments below and who knows, maybe we can all motivate each other to be the best us that we can be.
Now that Christmas has come, serious sales are about to hit stores starting tomorrow and lasting until New Years. Here are some of the things I’ve been eyeing lately for the New Year…you know, to get those resolutions all ready and stuff!
1. Perfume – (COACH POPPY FLOWER): I just smelled this at Kohl’s the other day (well, I accidentally sprayed it in my face, got blinded for a second, and then really enjoyed the scent for the rest of my shopping experience), and fell in love). It has a touch of wet ivy grapefruit, mandarin, jasmine, amberwood, musk, sandalwood and more! It’s a girly smell that means business and perfect for 2013! I mean, who wants to go to a business or client meeting smelling like you haven’t showered in two days trying to finish a deadline…I sure don’t!
2. New Lens – (Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens): I’ve been testing out some of my brother’s lenses during this break, and I’m in love. My Canon T2I needs some lens lovin’ for the new year so I can start taking some awesome-r pics for my blog and business. Other than a 50mm lens that I’ve been eyeing, this is next on my list.
3. Inspirational Book – (Creative, Inc.: The Ultimate Guide to Running a Successful Freelance Business): From freelancing pros Meg Mateo Ilasco and Joy Deangdeelert Cho, this book is a must for my collection! I’m in the midst of starting my own freelance marketing and design business, so this book will be the perfect jumpstart to my new career move. They explain “everything from creating a standout portfolio to navigating the legal issues of starting a business.”
4. Motivation To Work Out! – (ALTERNATIVE Drawstring Yoga Pants): I’m going to dedicate this new year to getting healthier and being more in shape. (Yah, yah that’s what everyone says!). As an avid sports player, I’ve already signed up for two indoor soccer leagues and one indoor kickball league via Philadelphia Sports Network for this winter season! These yoga pants would be great motivation for me to start doing some more Bikram Yoga, which is by far the best yoga I’ve ever done. I end up feeling less stressed, clear in my mind, more focuses, healthier, and just an overall endorphin high. Trust me, try Bikram Yoga!
So, what are you all eyeing to buy for the New Year and why? Let me know in the comments below!

Moving away from the typical 9-5 and starting a small freelancing business isn’t always easy. The life of an aspiring entrepreneur is both exciting and still really, really ridiculously difficult at the same time (thanks, Zoolander). With the constant use of a few simple and free apps, I’ve been able to organize my clients and projects (and thus, my life) better, so I thought I’d share them with you all (it is the holiday season, right?). Read on and let me know if you have any freelancing app suggestions as well for me below in the comments!
Am I missing any apps that would benefit me and my business as a freelancer? Let me know in the nifty little comment box below. ![]()
