I found this great project from David Wile and April Maciborka called “Pucker” in which they photograph a bunch of toddlers trying a lemon out for the first time. Below are a few of my favorites shots! To view the rest, click here.
I fell in love with these two photos from Pinterest the other night. Something about the luxe colors and the richness of the purple and blue just made my heart melt. Now that we have a studio locked down, I’m looking forward to some seriously beautiful decorating time. That purple chair would be ideal in my studio haha.
Anyone a victim of the awkward door holder? Or have you ever found yourself being “that dude” that just opens the door for people a mile away? All I have to say is…congrats and keep it up!
So I’m a huge fan of random adventures. I’m talking everything from quick explorations in a Jamaican village during a school service trip to a 3:00am car ride to the local WaWa for some snacks. Give me an opportunity to run away and try something new, and I will most likely say “Yes!” with a smile on my face and one foot out the door already.
So that is why I am super excited to enter Nomadic Matt’s “Win a 12 Day Trip to Europe” contest! If you don’t already read his blog, add him to your bookmarks and subscribe to his newsletter asap. Trust me, you’ll be doing your daydreaming little soul a favor. The gist of this contest is that Nomadic Matt will be giving away a 12 day trip to one lucky reader who will fly into Prague, visit Vienna, and then leave from Budapest to come back home. With the help of fellow travel site Vayama and hostel site Hostelworld, this contest is probably one of the coolest ideas I’ve seen in a while. All I have to do to enter is tell good ole’ Matt why I deserve to win (yes, I just bolded that for dramatic emphasis)! Here are my top 3.5 reasons:
1) I was at the airport recently flying to Tampa, Florida when my flight got cancelled. As I stood in line to figure out another route, I turned to the man behind me and asked him where his final destination was. “Prague,” he said. My heart skipped a hopeful beat and I wished him the best of luck for his travels. Moral of the story – I crave the thrill of traveling to some far away destination and even get super excited from hearing about others visiting different countries. I love meeting random strangers and striking up conversation because I’m a huge believer in the power of communication and being open to everyone (without being too naive, of course). This 12 day trip would also be an awesome start to my self discovery and hesitance into adulthood while helping push me out of my many different comfort zones. The thought of picking up bits and pieces of Czech and Hungarian and also dusting off the three years of German that I took is pretty appealing to me as well.
2) I want to create my very own cool Pinterest boards and photo albums like these people did: “Prague & Abroad,” “Vienna,” and “My Travel Album.” I’ve recently gotten into photography (I can always be seen carrying my badboy Canon DSLR with me), and I would love to practice my creative photo skills (ok…attempts) on exotic locales within Europe. What better way to say “Booyah Facebook friends” than with some awesome shots of the Prague Castle, the Danube Tower and the Turkish Baths around Budapest?
3) I’m a social media addict and would share my adventures with everyone step-by-step! I know that there can only be one winner, but if I do win, I promise to ‘share the travel wealth’ with all of my friends and followers through constant blog posts, super-cool (and non-emo) Instagram pictures and live Twitter updates (depending on my wifi status of course). I would love to be a so-called ambassador for Nomadic Matt on this trip to Europe, and keeping everyone posted on the sights I see, the food I eat and the people I meet would be an honor to me. I can also promise really goofy pictures like below:

3.5) And lastly, I would love to win this trip because I want to explore more of this world before 2012 ends and the Mayans end up being right…No, but in all honesty, I’ve never been to Europe and feel deprived from the history, culture and people that I could be learning and meeting right now! Being two years out of college, one of my biggest regrets was not studying abroad, and this contest would provide me a second chance at a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I would love to one day change my tagline on this blog to say “Tales from an awkward 20-something living like a vagabond” or something along those lines because a) I’ll probably always be pretty awkward so I’ll definitely be keeping that in and b) I feel like I have so much to offer to other people around the world if only I got out more. I live by the quote “No matter where or why you travel, there’s always something wonderfully new to be found,” and this 12 day adventure to Europe can help me prove this theory!
Thank you for taking your time to read this blog post, and may the best travel enthusiast win!
Just saw these really creative bookshelves from Freshome.com! Loved the concept and the overall look of the bookshelves. Definitely going to keep this in mind for my future dream home.
