I finally got out of my little working nook and went out for some grub and drinks with the always fun Janeane from Philly’s best food blog Phillyism. We met about a year back through the blogging/Twitter-sphere and ended up working at an ad agency together for a few months, too. Yay for cubicle buddies! She knows all the yummy places for food and drinks in the city, so for our little date we ended up going to Strangelove’s on 11th between Walnut and Locust.
They were hosting a Coast to Coast Toast event where you could order beer-washed cheeses (from Di Bruno Brothers of course) paired with tasty beers. The experience was delicious. Three different cheeses with three flight-sized beers to wash them down? Yes, please! We ended up getting four other side dishes from Strangelove’s and by the end of the night, I was stuffed. Janeane not so much, but hey, you have to have an awesome appetite to be a food blogger! I highly recommend visiting Strangelove’s for their food and beer selection; I know I’ll be taking the boy there for dinner soon. #nom

Hey everyone, I’m going to start documenting a new series here on the blog called “Philly Faves.” I’m going to differentiate it from any other local highlight I may do on Femme & Fortune by including different photos and just different locations at times. First up is one of my fave pizza places – Pizza Brain, an “American pizza culture museum and pizzeria” located in the heart of Fishtown. I had a lovely date pour une this past Sunday as a means to relax and chill out. Also, Josh was on a gig so my usual partner-in-crime was busy haha. Either way, I had an awesome solo date at Pizza Brain where their “Wendy Wedgeworth” slice was to die for. This diva had sun-dried tomato, goat cheese, fresh arugula and so much more. Le sigh, it was an amazing experience. Enjoy it with me once again through some of my photos below!
Have you had brunch at Sabrina’s yet? If not, you’re missing out. They’ve got a huge diner-esque menu with huge portions and delicious options. I won’t chit chat long, but below are a few photos from a brunch Josh and I ate a few months ago. I know…I’m late with the photos, but better late than never! Now, stay class y’all and go eat at Sabrina’s!
I went to the Vendy Awards a few weekends ago with Celestine, and we enjoyed stuffing our faces. Here are some of my favorite pics from the event! Celestine actually wrote a recap of the event on Femme & Fortune, so read that for more details. King of Falafel won, so definitely try them out around 16th and JFK. (Also, you can view more pics on my Facebook here).
The boy and I went to good ole’ Trader’s Joe the other day to stock up our pretty desperate-looking fridge. As we went around the grocery store full of yummies, I picked up this Trader Joe’s Frozen Vanilla Greek Yogurt. I had it once with some friends as we gossiped and laughed the night away, so naturally I scooped this up into our cart. It has a creamy and smooth yogurty taste, with a hint of sweetness. Pair it off with some frozen or fresh fruit, and you’ve got yourself a dessert! I could have probably tried making this by freezing the actual Greek yogurt I bought, but life is too short haha. If you haven’t tried it yet, try it! Happy #nomnom-ing!
